Kira recognized those numinous orbs now. Even in the inky blackness of the cave, it was as clear as the fingers on her hand. Garrick! She smelled the feral cat's primal heat, felt the warmth of his breath as he circled her like the great predator he was. There was nothing in the cave to defend herself with, no sticks, no steel pipes this time, and foolishly, she'd left the spear behind. Kira's short life flashed before her. She saw her mother's violet eyes and her father's strong, resolute jaw.
She sent a prayer toward heaven. "Let it be quick."
The beast advanced, his long white fangs gleaming white and deadly as he opened his mouth and roared. Mighty front paws clawed at the air as he moved in.
He could have killed her in a heartbeat, but Kira sensed, sickly, he wanted something else from her first. It drifted over her, under her, around her...hot primal lust. She was going to be sick, up-chuck her breakfast right here in front of that beast. His paw (minus the claws) reached out and scraped her cheek. Unadulterated hunger emanated from every pore in his furred body. His golden eyes burned with desire.
